Target Australia has hit the mark with fashion-forward shoppers with its latest designer dress.
Lily Loves’ Bubble Hem Corset Mini Dress looks exactly like a $380 purchase at Reformation.
The Target dress comes in black and cream and has been described as the perfect party dress for summer.
The hoax was highlighted by the Kmart Insider page on Instagram.
‘The 80s are here, they want their bubble hemlines to return to modernity. Try this controversial trend for less,” the poster wrote on the image showing the two styles side by side.
The fans seemed pleased.
‘Does this mean they’re done making fun of us with the return of the ’90s and are going back another decade?’ a woman asked.
While another added “we called them balloon dresses.”

“Yes, it reminds me of the 10 formal days of 1987,” recalled another.
Others remember them briefly “coming back” in the 2000s.
“I wasn’t here in the ’80s, but I remember loving my Supré bubble miniskirts in 2007,” said one shopper.
Even though the dress was declared the must-have party dress of the summer, some buyers couldn’t sell it.
“Oh God, put him back in the ’80s where he belongs,” one woman said.
The Reformation dress comes in a size 12, while the Target dress has expanded to a size 20 to attract more shoppers.
