Customers across Australia can’t get enough of a $70 Target denim dress that looks almost identical to a high-end version.
The affordable denim maxi shirt dress has been flying off the shelves and sold out in all sizes online as it looks just like the $525 Aje Colorado Denim Midi Dress.
Both sets are made of cotton and feature a belt with a gold buckle and matching buttons and cuffed blouson sleeves.
Fashion stylist Brooke Falvey saw the purchase at her local Target and had to look twice because it reminded her of the Aje alternative.
Target Australia released a $70 denim dress (pictured) and it sold out quickly
The dress looks remarkably similar to the Aje Colorado denim midi dress (pictured), which retails for $525.
While putting on the stunning dress, Brooke recorded a now-viral TikTok. video explaining the similarities between the two.
“Target has done it again,” she began, pointing to the dress.
‘The Aje version is $525. This one: $70! Beautiful midi length denim dress…this denim is really beautiful and soft, I would say it is a medium weight denim. It is not too heavy or rigid.
Brooke paired the shirt dress with beige knee-high boots and gold accessories for the perfect fall look.
The Target dress has a regular fit, side pockets and a shirt collar, qualities also found in the Aje dress.
Brooke’s video has since surpassed 97,000 views and many were quick to share their thoughts in the comments.
‘It’s lovely!’ one commented, another said: ‘I love Target right now!’
“I already bought it, I love it,” added a third.
What a good imitation for Aje’s dress! Awesome!’ another wrote.
However, others were disappointed to discover that the dress was already sold out.
“I’m devastated,” one woman said, another wrote: “They’re sold out and they won’t give us any indication they’ll be restocked.”
Although others said it is often better to invest in high quality and avoid fast fashion items.
‘You pay for quality. Styles like these are classic and worth spending money on to last,” one woman wrote.
But Brooke said: ‘Actually, Target’s quality is pretty good. And we’re in a cost of living crisis, so a lot of people can’t afford to spend $500 on a dress they might not want to wear forever.’
