Goal CEO Brian Cornell took the stage with Bob Chapek, president of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, to announce the news that was shared on Sunday.
Disney has approximately 300 of its own stores worldwide and Chapek explained that the company is looking for new ways to reach customers amid less traffic in shopping malls.
He noted that there is a 90 percent overlap between Disney and Target customers, making it a cost-effective partnership for both companies.
"Disney and Target share a common vision to provide our guests and consumers with innovative and unique experiences and high quality products," he said in a statement. & # 39; Our products help fans and families experience the magic wherever and whenever they want. & # 39;
In addition to the new Disney stores, the company will also open a new Target store in 2021 near the Walt Disney Resort in Orlando.
Disney has similar stores in around 600 J.C. Penney stores, but they are not of the Disney brand and have the same amount of merchandise or interactive displays.
