A quiet suburban neighborhood was rocked by the death of a man who was allegedly murdered by his wife.
Emergency services were called to a home on Medina Street in Taperoo, north-west of Adelaide, at around 8.40am on Sunday following reports a man had been injured.
Upon arrival, police found the body of a 60-year-old man, who has since been identified as Simon “Hoppo” Hopkinson.
His wife, Caroll Ann Smith, 58, was arrested at the home and later charged with murder.
Local police and authorities have launched an investigation into Mr Hopkinson’s death.
Smith is believed to have been the one who called emergency services.
“There is no one else believed to be involved in this matter,” said Western District Detective Inspector Christie Matthews.
‘We understand that the woman who was at home contacted emergency services.’

Asked whether the alleged incident was related to domestic violence, Inspector Matthews said that line of inquiry was being investigated.
Police have not yet confirmed the cause of Mr Hopkinson’s death but have not yet ruled out the use of weapons.
Neighbours were horrified to learn of the incident which occurred on a normally quiet suburban street.
One woman said they were both psychiatric nurses and that although she didn’t know them very well, “they seemed lovely.”
His son had helped Mr Hopkinson carry firewood to earn extra money.
Some neighbors saw Smith handcuffed and escorted out of the home by police.
“I was sitting at the front and she came out in her nightgown. She seemed quite nonchalant, not too worried. She had her head down,” the woman told the Adelaide Advertiser.

Kyla Vermeulen, who had lived on the street for 14 years, said she was “quite shocked” to hear of the death, “it’s quite sad.”
He added that “mainly elderly people and families” lived in the area.
Ms Vermeulen recalled hearing “a bang like a rattling on a fence” the night before.
Another local resident, Matt Carr, told the ABC that he heard sirens when he woke up and “there was a little bit of activity out front.”
“You don’t expect to wake up to that in your front yard on a Sunday morning,” he said.
Smith was refused bail to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday.
