Tanks clash during a military training exercise between Australian and Singaporean defence personnel near Rockhampton

Ten defence personnel have been airlifted to hospital after two tanks collided during an international military training exercise involving Australian and Singaporean forces.

The collision occurred near the Shoalwater Bay military training area, near Rockhampton in central Queensland, on Tuesday night.

A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman told Daily Mail Australia that paramedics were called to the scene at around 8.30pm.

The spokeswoman said ten patients were flown by military helicopter to Rockhampton Airport, where they were then transferred to hospital by ambulance.

All patients are believed to have suffered minor injuries and are currently in stable condition. Courier mail reported.

Queensland Police have confirmed they are aware of the incident.

The Australian and Singaporean defence forces have been contacted for comment.
