Former Home and Away star Tammin Sursock attended an anti-gun rally Thursday after her daughter was caught in a horrific school shooting in Nashville, Tennessee.
Three children and three adults at Covenant School in Nashville were tragically killed in the mass shooting Monday morning.
Tammin, 39, lives in Nashville with husband Sean McEwen and their two daughters, Phoenix, nine, and Lennon, three.
Their eldest daughter attends a school very close to Covenant School and has been closed as a precaution.
The actress posted to Instagram the morning of the shooting and was incredibly distraught when she told her followers that the Phoenix school was on lockdown.

She described the ordeal as hitting “very close to home” for many parents in America, where school shootings occur almost every year.
The mother of two has been vocal about her anti-gun views and attended a protest Thursday outside the Tennessee State Capitol.
She, along with thousands of others, carried signs reading “Protect Children, Not Guns” and “Attending school should not be a death sentence.”
The actress shared several photos and videos from the rally on Instagram, begging US lawmakers to change gun laws in the country.
In the caption, she wrote: “We all want change! Yes, I know we all have different opinions and I respect them all. I’m very open to conversation – but let’s start somewhere!”
Today was very emotional. The moment I got to the Capitol I started crying. Many of us were crying. We can’t live like this anymore and we all know it.

“We don’t just want change, we need change, our lives depend on it.”
The Pretty Little Liars star said she used to be afraid to speak about political issues out of fear of hate and ridicule, but now she’s done staying silent.
She added, “I had a lot of conversations today with conservatives, Democrats, Republicans, and it was unanimous, something needs to be done.
“We all want to send our kids to school and know they’ll come home.”
To try to keep her daughters safe, Tameen bought them bulletproof backpacks, but she said, “It’s not normal.”

“We know that buying bulletproof backpacks and shoelace-free shoes so our kids don’t fall when they run from a shooter isn’t out of the ordinary!” I continued in the Instagram post.
I beg you not to be silent. Please try to figure out a way forward together.

This was never an argument about owning a gun legally as a law abiding citizen. This was not the issue at hand. Reasonable and reasonable regulations that make sense. To each of us!!!

On Monday, Tameen left years ago when she found out her daughter’s school had closed as a precaution.
“There was an active shooter at a school in Nashville… It’s right next door to my daughter’s school. On lockdown, she said at the time, she was fine.
I know a lot of other moms are completely hysterical and shivering right now, because I can’t believe this keeps happening. And you always think that this will not happen to you.
