TALK OF THE TOWN: Was Meghan NFI Kate's very intimate birthday bash?

It should have been an occasion to celebrate friends and family. But in another example of what seems to be the increasingly icy relationship between the Duchesses of Cambridge and Sussex, I can reveal that Prince Harry and Meghan were absent last weekend at Kate's intimate birthday party.

Kate celebrated her 37th birthday with a Sunday lunch with William and good friends at Anmer Hall, their norfolk country house near Sandringham.

Although Anmer has ten bedrooms – enough room for guests – Harry and Meghan were not present.

Over the years, some Royal observers have suggested in a denigrating way that Kate has no real female friends. But she has some good allies who have remained remarkably loyal over the years – and a handful of them were at last week's party.

One was Emilia Jardine-Paterson, who played hockey with Kate at Marlborough College and a meter from Prince George. When Kate and William went through their short split in 2007, Emilia took Kate on a girls' break to Ibiza. A subdued interior designer, Emilia reportedly helped the Royals to redesign Anmer Hall and Kensington Palace.

Her husband David, who was also at the party, was with William in Eton. Another old friend at lunch was Laura Meade, Princess Charlotte and a neighbor in Norfolk. Laura was another who helped Kate through the breach with William and is now one of her closest confidants. Laura & # 39; s man James accompanied her.

The other couple who joined Kate and William were Sophie Carter, another friend of Norfolk and her husband Robert.

When Sophie married Robert last September, Charlotte and Prince George were pages.

Sophie has known Kate for many years and they celebrated the 31st of the Duchess in Paris.

Let's hope that Meghan and Harry Kate have sent at least one card!
