A daredevil Colorado skier died after attempting to jump 40 feet across a busy road, but fell short and landed on the road.

Dallas LeBeau, 21, died Tuesday in the “high-risk stunt” on US Highway 40 in Berthoud Pass.

Emergency services were called around 3pm to reports that a man was unconscious.

Despite a bystander’s desperate attempts to perform CPR, LeBeau was pronounced dead at the scene.

‘I wanted to do things that no one else had done. “He always said his birthday was the same day as Evil Knievel,” said his childhood friend Devin Shirk. FOX31in reference to the famous motorcycle specialist.

‘He encouraged other people to start skiing too. That was one of my favorite things about him too, is that even if it wasn’t jumps, he would just say, ‘You just have to try skiing; It will change your life.’

Investigators said the daredevil had been attempting the stunt but lacked the speed and distance needed to clear the road.

Traffic was shut down in both directions while officials worked at the scene.

A disturbing video released just two weeks before his death shows LeBeau climbing the slopes and completing tricks including spins and jumps.

He had been skiing since he was two years old, according to Shirk, who has since created a GoFundMe to help cover funeral costs.

“Dallas was one of the happiest, kindest people you’ll ever meet,” the fundraiser says.

Donors include other close friends who have also paid tribute to him.

Devastated friends paid tribute to the young man

Devastated friends paid tribute to the “cheerful and kind” young man on a GoFundMe page set up to cover funeral costs.

“Dallas has been my best friend since we met on the first day of the clearinghouse,” Jaxson Holmes said.

‘We’ve shared ups and downs and everything in between. I will miss his enthusiasm for doing the things she loved and her dedication to everyone in his life. Forever my best friend.’

‘I love this kid, I was on the team with him for 5 years and he was always one of the older ones who took me under his wing. “He’s such a kind and fun person, and a great skier,” wrote teammate Declan Burt.

“The death of the skier on the Berthoud Pass course is a tragic accident and CSCUSA offers our deepest condolences to the victim’s family and friends,” Colorado Ski Country USA told FOX31.

“Whether skiing, snowboarding or participating in another resort activity, we encourage everyone to keep safety in mind as we approach the spring season.”
