A man who appeared to be armed locked down Robina Hospital (pictured) on the Gold Coast for about an hour from midday on Tuesday before he was arrested.

A hospital was put on lockdown after a man believed to be armed entered the premises after evading police.

Emergency services were called to Robina train station on the Gold Coast about 11am on Tuesday when they received reports of an armed man, but were unable to locate him upon arrival.

The nearby Robina Hospital was placed on lockdown at around 12pm when a ‘Code Black’ was enacted after a man entered the emergency department and appeared armed.

Police attended the scene and arrested the man, wielding a gel blaster, without incident at around 1pm.

A Gold Coast Health spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia the lockdown was lifted shortly afterwards because the incident “has now been resolved”.

“Although arriving ambulances were diverted from Robina hospital, we are now back to normal,” the spokesperson said.

More to come.
