Darts star Darren Webster accused his opponent of farting during their MODUS Super Series match in an incredible social media rant on Thursday night.

The 55-year-old Webster, a former two-time World Championship quarterfinalist, faced Dutchman Ron Meulenkamp in a best-of-seven match and took a 3-0 lead, but his opponent caught him and ended up losing 4-3.

After Meulenkamp pinned double 16 for the win, Webster was visibly furious and refused to shake hands, while exchanging words with his opponent.

Meulenkamp seemed bewildered by the situation and reacted with a shrug, before Webster took to social media to explain exactly why he was so unhappy.

“Well when you play a guy that farts and stinks up the stage and denies it then you get kicked when (sic) you play the slot every pitch because they suck good luck for the future but I’m not interested in ranting about that.”, he posted on Facebook.

When someone responded by attacking Meulenkamp’s slow recovery of his darts from the board throughout the match, Webster added: “I was at the end of the game.”

Webster’s defeat ended a disappointing day for the Englishman as he lost three of his four matches on the opening night of the Super Series.

They sit last in Group B, while Meulenkamp are second in the five-man table after winning three of their four matches.

Meulenkamp joined the PDC in 2014, but never made it past the last 16 of the World Championship.

This is not the first time a player has been accused of farting on stage, as two-time world champion Gary Anderson defended himself against the same accusation after facing Wesley Harms at the Grand Slam of Darts in November 2018.

Harms claimed there was a “fragrant smell” during his match against the Scot as he suffered a 10-2 defeat after putting in a below-par performance.

When told in his post-match interview that Harms felt he farted to dissuade him, Anderson responded: “If the guy thinks I farted, he’s 1010 percent wrong.” I swear on the lives of my children that it was not my fault.

‘Usually if I fart on stage, I shit myself. If he farted and smelled like that, he would put his hands up and say “sorry, I need to get off.”

“Every time he passed by there was a flurry of rotten eggs, so I thought it was him.

‘That was wrong. It was a bad smell, then it started playing better and I thought it must have needed some air.

‘If someone has done that, they need to see a doctor. Apparently he says it was me, but he would admit it.
