Taco Bell brings back the ‘Volcano Menu’

Decades-old heat will erupt again at Taco Bell this summer with the return of the fan-favorite Volcano Menu.

The Tex-Mex fast food chain announced the reintroduction of specialty menu items such as the Volcano Burrito, Volcano Taco, and the spicy addition of Lava Sauce, a blend of cheese, sour cream, and spicy jalapenos, to any item starting in late June. .

“From petitions to recreating their own DIY alternatives from home, Taco Bell fans have taken to social media to advocate for a return,” the fast casual brand said in the announcement. “Taco Bell listened and is making this summer hotter than ever.”

Returning menu items will be available starting June 29.

According to the Louisville, Ky.-based company, Volcano Menu was first introduced in 1995 and has since developed a “cult following” of avid customers who have “relentlessly advocated for its return.”

The Volcano Menu was discontinued in 2013 after five years and started again in 2008, the Daily food informed. But the lava sauce stayed a bit longer.

First introduced in 2008 as a tangy cheese dip for nachos, the dip was removed from the menu in 2013 and returned in September 2015.
