KFC Australia brings hugely popular crowd favorite back to menu, but one state will miss out

Hot Rods, which first appeared on the Colonels menu in 2007 and were last served in 2021, returned to Australian restaurants on Tuesday.

A KFC fan favorite is back, and turning up the heat, after a three-year hiatus and near-constant customer demand.

Hot Rods, which first appeared on the Colonels menu in 2007 and were last served in 2021, returned to Australian restaurants (outside South Australia) on Tuesday.

The ‘spicy stick foods’ are ‘simple but delicious’ and feature the chain’s famous chicken and a golden, crispy coating with a spicy kick.

There have long been demands on Instagram for the Colonel to bring the strung rods back to Australia.

“Bring these juicy girls back,” one fan demanded.

Hot Rods, which first appeared on the Colonels menu in 2007 and were last served in 2021, returned to Australian restaurants on Tuesday.

‘Is the time. Bring it back,” said another under an old photo of the sandwich.

“Bring back the hot rods,” a third commented on an unrelated post from the fast food giant.

The calls have been answered, although for a limited time.

Available from Tuesday, April 16 to Monday, May 13, all Hot Rods can be purchased at participating restaurants nationwide, excluding South Australia.

Hot Rods are available as a two-piece snack with a side of KFC Aioli Sauce for $4.95 at KFC restaurants or through the KFC app for just $2.95.

The Hot Rods Combo for $8.95, which includes two Hot Rods, aioli sauce, chips and a drink.
