T-Mobile gives away free hotspots so that people can test their network for 30 days

T-Mobile has a new & # 39; Test Drive & # 39; deal that is intended to entice customers from other providers to switch. It is a free hotspot that allows people to try the T-Mobile network for 30 days (or up to 30 GB of data, whichever comes first), so they can see how T-Mobile's data rates and coverage work on their existing devices.

The company started rolling out the free 30-day hotspot test program last year, but it was much more limited and was only offered in Atlanta, Austin and Boston. Presumably it was intended as a silent test run for this national offer.

This is not the first T-Mobile & # 39; Test Drive & # 39; program: in 2014, the company lent out iPhone 5S devices with T-Mobile service so that potential customers could try out the network. However, that program only lasted seven days. This new Test Drive system is much longer and does not require customers to change phones, making it potentially more useful. If it's nothing else, it's a way to get a free 30 GB T-Mobile hotspot for a month.

The new Test Drive deal comes with a number of small print: it is only open to non-T-Mobile customers, it does not include international use and it is limited to only a single trial per user. T-Mobile also notes that the offer is available for a limited time while stocks last.
