A 14-year-old boy has been arrested and a man is in hospital after a suspected stabbing plunged the University of Sydney into lockdown.
The 22-year-old man was allegedly stabbed in the neck and back at the Camperdown campus in the inner west of the city at about 8.35am on Tuesday.
He was rushed to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a stable condition.
New South Wales Police arrested the 14-year-old boy after officers learned he had boarded a bus on Parramatta Road following the incident.
College guardians said they had been issued a closure notice.
“As a precautionary measure, there may be increased security and police presence on campus while investigations continue,” a University of Sydney spokesperson said.
‘The safety and well-being of our students, staff and community members is our priority and we continue to work with law enforcement.
