Hundreds of Sydney train services have been canceled due to a strike by members of the state’s rail union, causing widespread disruption for commuters across the city.

Widespread delays are expected after members of the Railway, Tram and Bus Union stepped up their industrial strike on Wednesday.

By 6.30am, hundreds of services had already been canceled and even more delayed, ahead of peak travel time.

Travelers are being warned to expect “significant” delays as back-to-back services across the rail network are cancelled.
