Sydney’s rail network has been thrown into chaos after a woman was trapped under a train.
The woman, aged in her 50s, reportedly fell onto the tracks at Punchbowl train station in Sydney’s south-west on Tuesday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the station where Fire and Rescue NSW crews worked to free the woman from beneath the train.

She was immediately transferred to an ambulance before being taken to St George’s Hospital at approximately 4:45pm.
Commuter trains have been thrown into chaos and Sydney Train customers have been warned of possible delays.
Images from Central Station show crowds waiting for trains, which are travelling slowly along the T3 Bankstown line.
“Service Disruption: Please allow additional travel time due to an incident requiring emergency services at Punchbowl earlier,” the warning signs read.
Travellers travelling to Punchbowl will need to take high-speed services to Revesby as several services will be cancelled.

The incident is also affecting other rail lines, with T8 and T3 services operating out of schedule and changing platforms.
Sydney Trains took to social media to say replacement buses were being arranged for commuters.
Sydney Trains said delays were expected and replacement buses were being used on some sections of the route.
“Please continue to allow additional travel time due to an incident requiring emergency services at Punchbowl,” the statement read.
‘Limited buses are replacing trains between Bankstown and Campsie in both directions due to an incident requiring emergency services at Punchbowl.’
