Commuters looking to get around or out of Sydney this afternoon are being warned to expect chaos after a communications glitch brought the city’s entire network to a standstill.
Due to the malfunction, all trains came to a standstill just after 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
“Be aware of a lot of extra travel time due to a train communication problem,” Sydney Trains warned.
“Trains may stop longer than usual at platforms or between stations while the problem is ongoing.
“We expect this to continue until the afternoon rush hour.”
The computer screens at Central Station in the city’s CBD, which usually show the stops and the next trains, were completely blank after the outage.
