It wasn’t just Marilyn Monroe who Sydney Sweeney emulated at the Vanity Fair 2024 Oscars party in Hollywood on Sunday, but also Angelina Jolie.
In a touching nod to Angelina’s style prowess, the Euphoria star, 26, replicated her 76th Annual Academy Awards look from 2004.
The cream-colored Old Hollywood Marc Bouwer dress cemented Angelina’s status as a fashion icon in the early 2000s.
Some 20 years later, Sydney followed in Angelina’s footsteps and modeled the glamorous halter neckline at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills last night.
Sydney recreated the explosive look with the dress, pairing the shawl and accessories with a similar collection of layered pendant necklaces.
Angelina Jolie’s spectacular red carpet look at the 76th Academy Awards in 2004 reappeared on the red carpet last night.
With the help of hair and makeup, Sydney managed to add her own touch to the stock look.
The White Lotus alum previously rocked her usual long, blonde tresses when she recently hosted Saturday Night Live.
For Vanity Fair’s annual Oscar party, Sydney changed it up, showing off a darker honey blonde color and her shoulder-length bob with bouncy waves.
The style differed from Angelina’s 2004 red carpet look, in which the then-29-year-old’s long locks were let down.
With her incredible looks, Sydney joined Angelina, 48, and many A-list bombshells recognized for their red carpet outfits and appearing on many best-dressed lists.
Last night’s Oscars were filled with dazzling performances, controversial comments, a shocking pregnancy announcement, a naked appearance on stage, a bizarre wardrobe malfunction and an argument between host Jimmy Kimmel and former President Donald Trump.
It began with an embarrassing monologue from the host in which he made a very crude joke about Robert Downey Jr.’s manhood, which did not sit well with the actor.
But when Donald posted a scathing tweet about Jimmy, calling him the “worst host” in Oscar history, the comedian decided to attack him on national television, asking, “Haven’t you already spent your time in jail?”
Sydney Sweeney paid homage to Jolie’s glamorous 2004 look by wearing the same Marc Bouwer dress.
The glamorous dress with a plunging neckline cemented Angelina’s status as a fashion icon in the early 2000s.
The Euphoria star also emulated Marilyn Monroe last night with the help of her hair and makeup.
During the star-studded three-hour event, Ryan Gosling performed a hilarious performance of his hit song I’m Just Ken from Barbie that left many celebrity attendees in the audience in shambles, and Emma Stone accidentally ripped her dress.
It definitely had its fair share of viral and shocking moments: the dog that appeared in Anatomy of a Fall became an internet sensation after he was spotted sitting adorably in the audience, and John Cena walked on stage naked, wearing the envelope with the winner in it to cover his private parts.
The event saw one of Sydney’s many glamorous looks of late and last week, she looked effortlessly radiant in a hot pink ALAÏA dress as she channeled her inner Barbie at an event for the flavored water brand Bai.
While serving as the exclusive brand ambassador for the popular beverage company, the Euphoria actress oozed glamor while promoting her latest collaboration with Bai on a raspberry-lemon-lime drink at an intimate gathering in New York City.
To accessorize, the Euphoria star highlighted her cleavage with layers of sparkling pendant necklaces, further echoing Jolie’s 2004 look.
In 2004, Angelina wore her hair down with the top braids tied back to reveal her stunning makeup look.
She styled her twisted and flared midi dress with a pair of $595 (£463) red Maison Ernest pumps and black Alexander McQueen sunglasses, which retail for $485 (£377).
Her platinum blonde locks were styled in loose waves that cascaded down her back and shoulders.
For makeup, she highlighted her natural beauty with a matte pink lipstick on her plump pout and blushed for a fresh, rosy glow as she got ready to socialize with her fans.
Once inside her event for Bai, Sweeney opened up about what inspired her flavor choices, which she said “derived” from her “love of picking berries” growing up.
During an interview with Forbesthe bombshell praised how the drink reminded her of her childhood.
“I grew up in the Pacific Northwest and my mom would take me and my little brother berry picking,” the two-time Emmy nominee gushed. ‘And there were waterfalls where you could carry garbage bags, and you could go down the waterfalls and then go pick berries on the sides.
At the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills, Sydney turned heads in the glamorous dress with a floor-length train, and she also carried a matching long shawl on her arms.
Sydney oozed glamor as she posed on the red carpet in the backless dress Angelina once wore.
She continued: “And when we were coming up with the inspiration behind what I wanted to bring to life and what flavor I thought could be so cool, I thought, ‘I’d bring a little bit of my childhood to this drink,’ and I love raspberries. I felt like that “He brought that memory to life.”
Sweeney also explained how she has incorporated Bai products into her workout routine.
‘Well, I’m super, super active. I try to run, exercise and stay as active as possible,” she told the outlet. ‘And Bai has new and improved benefits this year. They include electrolytes, which is really good because I exercise a lot.
‘And then it also contains antioxidants, which is really good, just because I travel all the time and I’m always on the go. So having those little extra things to keep me healthy is really nice,” the Madame Web star shared.
Sweeney previously revealed that he “hasn’t even tried coffee” and “only” drinks water.
‘I decided I would just drink water and stuck with it. “I love water, it’s my thing,” he told Bustle. “I eat sugar, to balance… instead of coffee, I have Swedish fish or any jelly beans if I’m tired.”
While she has said that she is not “strictly sober,” the artist noted that alcohol is simply not “something that turns her on” and that it truly identifies her as “a water person.”
