Sydney Sweeney reveals how she really feels when people comment on her body… after joking about her ‘show boobs’ career strategy on SNL

Anybody but You star Sydney Sweeney feels like she has no control over the audience’s or general public’s perception of her body when it comes to her films.

The 26-year-old actress has had a lot of success this year, but said in an interview Monday that some people focus on her body and not her acting.

She said Variety that she is aware of what people say about her: “I see it and I just can’t allow myself to have a reaction, I don’t know how to explain it – I’m still trying to understand it myself.

“People feel connected and free to talk about me however they want, because they believe I have given up on my life. That I am no longer on a human level, because I am an actor.

“These characters are for everyone, but me, as Sydney, is no longer for me. It’s this weird relationship that people have with me that I have no control or say over “, she finished.

However, the focus on her body was especially noticeable when she was featured on Saturday Night Live just a few weeks ago.

In her monologue, she began by saying, “People only see me as the girl on TV who screams and cries and has sex.”

The star feels that at this point in her career, she has been typecast for her body type.

During part of the segment, she displayed a PowerPoint detailing her strategy for succeeding in showbusiness – which said “showing boobs.”

In another section of the comedy sketch, she played a Hooters waitress in which she wore a very low-cut white shirt that showed off her chest as she served a table of men.

After the release of Anybody But You, Sweeney cleverly played with a rumor that she and co-star Glen Powell were romantically involved. At one point in the episode, she tried to refute that idea.

By requesting that the camera move to her fiancé, who was working on the film with her, Powell found herself in the frame, awkwardly mugging the audience.

The actress also spoke about the daily direct messages she receives via social media and said they are “not a safe space.”

Ultimately, she kept her feelings separate from her work because she realizes she is working for herself, not the public.

As of 2022, Sweeney is engaged to Chicago businessman Jonathan Davino who supports her in her acting endeavors.

The two were first linked in 2018 when they attended Hulu’s 2018 Emmy Party and a Kate Spade dinner together.
