GWS coach Adam Kingsley has come to the aid of Sydney rival John Longmire after the embattled Swans coach was forced to endure a humiliating moment following his team’s heavy final defeat.

Longmire, one of the game’s most respected figures, had to hold his post-match press conference amid huge applause and celebrations from the Lions players next door following the Swans’ 60-point defeat in the MCG.

Speculation is rife about Longmire’s future at the club after a second grand final humiliation in three attempts, but Kingsley says the Swans coach deserves more respect.

‘It’s the first time I’ve seen that. In my opinion, that shouldn’t happen,” Kingsley said of the scenes Longmire had to deal with after the game.

‘Should the press conference be held in another room further away from the winning locker rooms?

“I don’t think John Longmire should have to go through that while being asked questions about the game in an incredibly emotional state.

“It would be very difficult to endure that and it seemed like he approached it with great calm and composure, but it would be incredibly difficult.”

As more reporters piled into the press conference, the Lions’ celebrations grew louder as the door kept opening.

A frustrated Longmire ended up saying: ‘Are there more coming?’

‘Not anymore? Do you want us to wait? Are there more coming?

Fox Footy presenter Sam Squiers reflected on what he saw as a “damaged” Longmire at the press conference.

“Yes, it was a dejected, disappointed and somewhat damaged John Longmire after that 60-point loss,” he said.

‘Yet another tough defeat for the Swans in a grand final.

“You can’t underestimate how difficult it was for him as in the background he could still hear the Lions celebrating.”

“He was quite tense at first, he seemed a bit annoyed when people kept opening the door and coming in because he could hear these celebrations getting louder and louder.

“There aren’t too many answers for Swans fans to latch onto.”
