A Sydney socialite has cast a shadow over her ex-husband by hosting a lavish divorce party with friends, five months after their messy split.

News of Montarna Pitt and her husband Nicholas Pitt’s split broke in July, and sources said their split was not amicable.

And on the eve of what would have been her sixth wedding anniversary, Montarna got the last laugh by throwing the ultimate celebration party and reverting to her maiden name: Montarna McDonald.

The public relations guru invited several friends to posh Mimi’s restaurant in Coogee on Thursday, where they wined and dined on lobster, pasta, salad and fries while sipping expensive white wine.

A beautifully decorated cake was also presented which simply said ‘Montarna McDonald’.

Among the guests were Pilates queen Bernadette Sukkar, her sister Madison McDonald, stylist Caroline Tran and heiress Louise O’Neil.

Montarna, 34, also changed her Instagram username to include her maiden name.

On Instagram, Montarna documented the extravagant day and captioned her post: “To new beginnings.”

The stunning blonde looked ready to celebrate in a knee-length pink sequin dress that featured a plunging neckline.

Several friends and fans congratulated her on her new beginning.

“To new beginnings, regards Montana McDonald,” commented Lisa Wipfli.

“For a new adventure,” another person added, while someone else wrote: “What a beautiful example for your daughters.”

The eastern suburbs socialite and her former lawyer Nick split earlier this year after almost six years of marriage and ten years as a couple.

Montarna, founder and CEO of The Audience Agency in Sydney, and Nick share two young daughters.

According to the Daily TelegraphThe court papers were filed this year in the New South Wales Supreme Court and were believed to be an application for orders to appoint Nick’s father, Michael Pitt, as administrator of the former couple’s $5 million marital home in Paddington.

The publication reported at the time that Nick’s parents had turned off the power to the property where Montarna resided with her children.

Montarna had asked Nick to vacate the property in 2023 after “several disagreements” and spent almost a year renovating parts of his abode.

‘Our patio is my favorite space; It’s the most complete space in the house and I spent almost a year putting it all together,’ Montarna told Sitchu in 2018.

“It’s worth the time and effort – we practically live there in a warmer climate, it’s a social hub.”

The couple married in December 2018 in an intimate ceremony at Redleaf Wollombi, a short drive from the Hunter Valley in New South Wales.

Montarna highlighted her slender figure with the striking wedding dress that hugged her waist and revealed her toned back.

The blonde’s locks were styled at the nape of her neck and her striking facial features were highlighted with a sleek makeup palette.

Meanwhile, Nick cut a dapper figure in a crisp white shirt, a tailored black suit and dress shoes.

Montarna began dating Nick in 2014.
