- Luke Keary had a moment to forget recently at daycare
- Mistaken identity case left playmaker mortified
- Led the Roosters to a brave victory over the Knights on Thursday
Sydney Roosters star Luke Keary has revealed he was recently left red-faced after something funny at nursery.
Speaking to reporters after his team’s gritty 22-20 victory over the Knights on Thursday, the playmaker said a case of mistaken identity when picking up his children ensured a comical moment.
‘I was leaving daycare the other day… a twin [woman he thought he knew] “I came out and said, ‘Hey, how are you?'” the three-time NRL premiership winner recalled.
‘She looked at me like who the fuck are you.
“After a while I realized I was a twin and I felt like hell.”
Sydney Roosters star Luke Keary revealed he was recently left red-faced after a hilarious incident while picking him up from daycare.
The playmaker (pictured, with his wife Amy) said a case of mistaken identity while picking up his children ensured a comic moment.
While Keary laughed about that awkward encounter, he wouldn’t have been smiling on Friday after the NRL match review committee fined him $1000 for grabbing referee Gerard Sutton.
Keary pulled on Sutton’s right arm as he attempted to chase Knights center Bradman Best as he broke away down the left side in the opening minutes on Thursday night.
The referee appeared to enter Keary’s field of vision before the runner made contact and then fell onto teammate Jared Waerea-Hargreaves.
Sutton stood tall, with a vision transmitted showing Keary looking at the referee after regaining his balance.
The match review committee charged Keary with first-degree contrary conduct, which carries a $1,000 fine with an early guilty plea.
Keary risks having to pay $1,500 by contesting the charge.
The incident comes after Melbourne halfback Jahrome Hughes received a one-match suspension earlier this season for pushing Chris Butler during the Storm’s win over the Warriors.
Penrith five-eighth Jarome Luai was fined $1800 last season for pushing touch judge Chris Sutton while celebrating a try in a win over Brisbane.
