The son of a veteran police officer has been accused of raping his preteen daughter multiple times over four years.

The western Sydney man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested in November 2023 after his young daughter spent three hours speaking to police about his sexual abuse allegations.

He was charged with 25 offenses of rape and sexual battery.

NSW Police will allege the father, who works as a civil servant, began abusing the girl when she was just nine years old.

She allegedly told police that her father would abuse her while other family members were away.

The son of a New South Wales police officer has been charged with 25 offenses of rape and sexual touching.

The girl claimed the abuse continued for four years until she finally broke down and told her close friends and mother last year.

The man spent more than three months behind bars before being released on bail in the NSW Supreme Court last month.

One of the conditions of his bail is that he will live with his parents. His father holds a senior rank in a local regional command and has been in the force for more than 30 years.

“I can supervise all bail conditions imposed on (my son) and be with him as necessary if necessary,” his father wrote in an affidavit. Today’s telegraph reported.

“I have dealt with these types of issues in my work as a police officer and I can assure the court that I will endeavor to closely monitor and supervise my son.”

Court documents claim the girl was sexually assaulted between 2019 and 2023.

NSW Police say the father repeatedly raped his daughter, now 13, over four years.

She first told her best friend about the alleged abuse in July last year.

She said: “I have been sexually assaulted by my father for the past four years,” the court heard.

The alleged victim told her boyfriend a few months later, then to her mother.

When her mother asked why she didn’t tell him about the alleged abuse sooner, the girl replied: “I just hoped he would change.”

Prosecutors opposed the father’s release on bail, pointing to the victim’s “detailed and specific” accounts of the alleged abuse.

The man, who is now a civil servant, has been released on bail and the case will return to court later this year.

However, the man’s lawyer stressed his client would be subject to strict conditions if released and said the case against him would “go up and down” depending on whether jurors believed the youngster’s testimony. girl.

Judge Deborah Sweeney granted the man strict bail and allowed him to continue working in public service during the day.

Outside of work hours, he will live with his parents and is not allowed to leave their home unless he is attending court, legal conferences, or in an emergency.

He is also prohibited from spending time with anyone under the age of 16.

The case will return to court later this year.
