Liberal MP Rory Amon has been charged with five counts of sex with a teenager, as well as indecent assault and one act of indecency.
The 35-year-old New South Wales state MP was arrested at 6am on Friday after a two-year police investigation into reports of a sexual assault in Mona Vale on Sydney’s northern beaches.
“Police have been informed that a teenage boy was allegedly sexually assaulted by a man, known to him, at an address in Mona Vale,” a NSW Police spokesman said.
‘In March 2023, the NOORAL Strike Force was established to investigate the incident.
‘Following extensive enquiries, a 35-year-old man was arrested at Manly Police Station at approximately 6am today.’
Amon has been charged with five counts of having sexual intercourse with a person over the age of 10 and under the age of 14, and two counts of attempting to have sexual intercourse with a child over the age of 10 and under the age of 14.
He has also been charged with two counts of indecently assaulting a person under the age of 16 and committing an indecent act with a person under the age of 16.
Amon is the Shadow Assistant Minister for Transport and Roads, the Shadow Assistant Minister for Infrastructure and the Shadow Assistant Minister for Youth.
