A swinger is suing the NHS for more than £10 million in damages after she broke her neck and was left paralyzed when she plunged into a swimming pool while drunk at a club night.

She suffered a permanent spinal cord injury and spent more than six months in hospital after diving into the shallow end of a swimming pool inside Blackpool swingers club Infusion in August 2021.

Staff saw her floating in the water and carefully got her out while her partner called 999, according to documents lodged at the High Court.

She claims the paramedics caused further injuries that paralyzed her when they transported her in a wheelchair – a wheelchair used to transport patients – without supporting her head and dropped her so she hit the floor.

The woman will never walk again, nor can she work or live independently, documents say.

She is suing North West Ambulance Services Trust and Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for personal injury and consequential loss.

She claims the doctors did not realize there was a possibility she could have hit her head in the pool.

In her claim, she also accuses hospital staff of failing to recognize that she had injured her neck and failing to take measures to prevent her spinal cord injury from worsening.
