A swimsuit brand has been criticized online for dedicating a $165 bikini to the memory of Rosa Parks.

Earlier this year, Miami-based Divino Seas debuted the matching ‘pink’ bikini top and bottom on its website.

In the description for both products, the brand describes how they were inspired by “the woman whose righteous rebellion against apartheid-style segregation in the United States sparked the civil rights movement of the 1960s.”

Rosa Parks was an American civil rights activist who refused to give up her bus seat to a white man in December 1955, sparking the Montgomery Bus Boycott, which protested segregated seating on public transportation. .

The description continues: ‘In honor of Rosa Parks, DivinoSeas has included this artesian (sic) inspired homage to haute couture in the realm of luxury swimwear.

‘ROSA is meticulously designed with divinity in the details. Each element of the constellation of its composition contributes to the seductive but majestic seriousness of the decorations.’

Both the bikini top and bottom, which are made of polyester and spandex, are currently on sale for half price and are available in sizes XS-L.

Earlier this week, the bikini’s product description caught the attention of Pauli Mia, lead singer of the American band Twin Princess.

Surprised by the unlikely tribute to Rosa Parks, the musician posted screenshots of the website on X and wrote: ‘Can I show you something?’

One follower responded: “LMFAO we’ve reached peak millennial marketing.”

Another joked: “RIP Rosa Parks, you would have loved this stripper bikini top.”

“I don’t think Rosa Parks wore this,” a third responded.

Meanwhile, a fourth added: ‘This is hilarious! A total disconnection between design and marketing.

‘Did someone put a message in “AI” like “Write 100 convincing words about the color pink”?

Echoing this sentiment, a fifth said: “I really need to know which part screams ‘majestic seriousness.'”

What’s more, Pauli’s viral post led others to the website, where they discovered that there is also a bikini set named after former first lady Eleanor Roosevelt.

After seeing the tribute to Eleanor Roosevelt, another shopper simply wrote, “I can’t lol.”

“OMG, they’re real,” one responded. “They’re both real.”
