Davis declined to comment when approached by DailyMail.com, saying that he was too busy with “things” to talk.

“They can’t keep us out of the woods, so that’s what some of the others have done: they’ve set up their own little quest.”

Nelson added, “It’s a bad deal, you know. They don’t tell us. We are excluded from everything.

‘George [Davis] put together a search team of friends – I’d go, but pretty much all our fireboys are on it, so I decided to leave in case we got something [a fire].

“Barry understood very well what I got from George. I know he can’t go home. He’s with a neighbor. I think they’ll have him there until he’s acquitted or … “

‘This is not normal. She is a very happy person. Every time you meet her, she comes forward, talks to you and makes you feel welcome. ‘

He has known Suzanne and her husband for two years since they met them during a firefighter recruitment campaign in Maysville.

Of Morphew, he said, “It is difficult for him. Right now, when it comes to communication, he doesn’t have his phone – it’s passed down through firefighters and that’s how we get information.

“He’s trying to keep busy – he can’t sit still and hope something pops up.”

Stehle added, “Her family is great, her daughters are great. It is really sad that such a good family has ended up.
