A suspect has been arrested following the brutal rape of a New York City woman who was tied up from behind with a belt and dragged away.
Kashaan Parks was arrested Saturday and accused of attacking a 45-year-old woman on May 1.
A major search had been underway for the “person of interest” since Friday, when the NYPD released his photograph and asked for help finding him.
Parks, 39, is awaiting arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court, the New York Post reports.
He was named a suspect nine days after the savage attack in the South Bronx.

Police released these images of the father-of-one and asked for the public’s help in locating him on Friday.
The victim was walking near East 152nd Street and Third Avenue around 3 a.m. when Parks allegedly crept up behind her.
Parks then reportedly placed a belt around the victim’s neck, rendering her unconscious, before sexually assaulting her, the NYPD said.
While security footage of the incident went viral on social media, police officers said they were not aware of the situation immediately because the victim did not report it.
In fact, it wasn’t until the victim was arrested for petit larceny that officers learned of the incident. She cooperated and identified Parks as the man who assaulted her.
‘Our victim indicated that she had seen him before; she actually described her teeth to us; She had unusual teeth,” said Patrol Chief Joseph Kenny. I amNY. “He said he has space between his teeth.”
Surveillance video reviewed by DailyMail.com showed the woman walking in front of whom police suspect, Parks, who had tied a white cloth around the lower half of her face.
He put a belt around her neck and threw her to the ground, and as the woman struggled, she quickly went limp.

Parks allegedly dragged her down the sidewalk and between two parked cars. He reportedly looked around her before leaning over the woman’s body, which is hidden from view.
Police believe the attack followed an earlier conversation between the two people that night, which involved having sex in exchange for money.
They say the conversation involved the victim being offered money in exchange for sex.
However, according to police, when this agreement did not occur, Parks became very angry and allegedly strangled the victim with a belt before raping her.
Parks has been identified as the father of a young daughter and lists himself as being in a relationship on social media.
