The Olympic swimmer-turned-presenter, 51, tearfully told her Ash, Luttsy and Susie listeners that she would immediately resign after 10 years in the role.

‘I do this with great regret, the decision was not easy. It’s hard for me to explain exactly why I’m leaving,” Susie began through tears.

‘Turning 50 last year, I realized that I am in a completely new stage of my life. The next chapter will see me pursue other goals, both professionally and personally.”

Susie added that she already had some ideas about what the future held and assured listeners that they would have the opportunity to say goodbye to her as she would remain on the air for another six weeks.

‘I want to get back to the basics of the sport and get involved in the wider community. It’s going to be an emotional last day, saying goodbye to everyone.

“Regardless of what this next chapter brings, my Nova family won’t be far away.”
