A 51-year-old man plunged from a balcony in Sydney and is fighting for his life in hospital.
NSW Police arrived at a unit on Belvoir Street, Surry Hills, after hearing the man arguing at around 11.30am on Thursday.
However, when police entered the unit, they found that he had fallen from the balcony.
Paramedics from NSW Ambulance treated the 51-year-old man at the scene before rushing him to nearby St Vincent’s Hospital in a critical condition.
NSW Police have launched an investigation into a critical incident in Surry Hills after a man fell from a balcony around 11.30am on Thursday.
“A crime scene has been established with a critical incident team from Kings Cross Police Regional Command investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident,” a police statement said.
Initial investigations indicate the man’s fall was the result of a mental health issue and is not considered suspicious.
The investigation will be subject to an independent review by the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission.
