The Project star makes a surprise return to the show – after the controversial Channel Ten program suffered a mass exodus of its biggest names
The Project welcomed one of its former stars on Friday night.
Gorgi Coghlan, who was previously a regular panelist on the controversial current affairs show, dropped by to promote her new one-woman show, The Motherload.
The 47-year-old walked away from The Project in 2021 after 10 years to focus on her new career as a tax collector and restorer.
“Can I say — it’s so lovely to be back,” she told the panel during Friday’s episode.
“It’s like coming home and seeing a friend you’ve known your whole life, you sit down, a hug, maybe a cheeky vino.” Where do you start? So many conversations we could have,” she added.

Discussing her brief return to the show, Gorgi joked, “You’re very nice of me to be there, because Mom has to sell tickets, everyone.”
Gorgi announced her departure from The Project in July 2021.
“It hasn’t been an easy decision, but after 10 YEARS on this wonderful show I feel it’s time. I really like broadcasting and I missed it this year,” she said.
The Victorian-born reporter went on to say she always knew when the time was right to “jump into the unknown” and “discover new adventures.”

It follows the massive departures of stars Carrie Bickmore, Lisa Wilkinson and Peter Helliar from the troubled show.
Tommy Little was also quietly removed as a regular panelist.
New stars Sam Taunton and Michael Hing have joined the show for 2023, alongside Sarah and existing panelists Waleed Aly and Hamish Macdonald.
Georgie Tunny, who was already a regular on the current affairs show, will also appear in the new season.
Wilkinson announced she was quitting with immediate effect in December, and longtime presenter Carrie Bickmore confirmed her departure in October.
Helliar also announced that he was leaving The Project, explaining that he decided to quit following the departure of his co-host Carrie.
