His mother Katie Holmes, 45, famously played the role of Joey Potter on The WB’s hit teen drama that aired for six seasons from 1998 to 2003.
Suri, 18, looked the spitting image of Katie as she posed for photos with her prom date Toby Cohen, identified by DailyMail.com, before hopping into a van with her friends.
The photos immediately reminded fans of the iconic Dawson’s Creek episode in season three where Joey goes to the prom with James Van Der Beek’s Dawson Leery.
In episode 22, titled ‘The Anti-Prom,’ Joey throws a special prom for her Capeside High classmates and Dawson takes her as his date amid a love triangle with Joshua Jackson’s Pacey Witter.
Like Suri, Joey’s prom look included a spaghetti strap dress, minimal jewelry, and a classic ’90s lip.

The teen headed to her prom on Tuesday night, but was first seen outside the Ascent Lounge with her prom before getting into a waiting car, according to photos obtained by DailyMail.com.
She seemed to be in a very good mood as she smiled widely while chatting with her friends, including Toby, a fellow high school graduate and budding musician who appears to have accompanied the teen to the historic event as her date.
Toby attended LaGuardia High School along with Suri and is scheduled to attend the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston in the fall, while Suri will head to Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh.
There seemed to be no sign of Holmes, but there was a woman in a black coat taking photos of Suri, who turned 18 in April.
Meanwhile, her estranged father, actor Tom Cruise, was last seen flying a helicopter in London, where she has been spending much of her time lately.
For her senior prom, Suri looked stunning in a corset-style dress with a floral print and maroon trim.
The dancer added high-heeled shoes with gold straps while going bare-legged for the historic event in New York.
Suri had a bouquet of purple flowers on her wrist from her prom date, Toby, revealing that the teen was following tradition.
Her hair was parted in the middle and loose in soft summer waves.
There were hints that Suri was going to attend prom this summer, as she was spotted looking at dresses three weeks ago in New York City. The star was spotted at a clothing store in lower Manhattan.

But the dress could belong to her fashion-conscious mother Katie, who recently shared that her only daughter often “steals” clothes from her closet. Holmes is known for wearing designer dresses from her friends like Zac Posen.
Cruise has also hinted at where he will attend college while wearing a Carnegie Mellon University sweatshirt in early June.

Perhaps not surprising given that, for the past 11 years, Holmes has effectively raised Suri alone.
Cruise, 61,’s only contribution to his daughter’s life has been financial and he has not been seen with his daughter since 2013, after Holmes renounced both the marriage and the Church of Scientology, the religion to which that Cruise is so devoted. .
