Surfing legend Mick Fanning certainly enjoyed Penrith’s dramatic NRL grand final victory over Brisbane, with fans claiming the Australian hero had a few too many beers in Sydney.
Fanning, a Panthers tragic, was on hand at Accor Stadium for his side’s incredible second-half comeback against the Broncos, in which they overcame a 16-point deficit thanks to Nathan Cleary’s heroics.
The 42-year-old celebrated on the pitch with the players after the final whistle and looked slightly worse for wear as he spoke to Channel 9’s Alanna Ferguson.
“It’s the best thing ever,” he said. “Oh my God, it’s so amazing, woo, look at it.”
When asked what he thought of Cleary, Fanning replied: “Are you kidding me? He is the greatest athlete in the world. Seriously. Swear to God. The greatest athlete in the world. He’s gone absolutely crazy in the last 10 minutes.
