DJ Qualls and Ty Olsson, who starred together on the TV series Supernatural, are engaged.
Qualls, 45, announced the engagement news on this week’s episode of his Locked and Probably Loaded podcast, which he co-hosts with Kelly Blackheart.
“Ty and I became inseparable from the beginning, immediately,” Qualls opened. “And over the last ten years our relationship evolved into what it is today, and now we’re getting married.”
DJ played werewolf Garth on the long-running CW show, while Olsson, 50, played the character Benny.
Recalling the trajectory of their relationship, he said he and his now-fiance “didn’t know each other at all” when they first crossed paths.
“We said maybe three words together at the Supernatural convention, and then we went to London for four or five days.”

DJ explained how Ty made the “bold” decision to invite himself on a trip to Turkey he had been planning with a friend.
“He came up to us, we all went out as a group, and he said, ‘Can I go on a trip with you?’
‘And I said, ‘That’s so bold!’ I could never invite myself on someone’s trip because I’d be afraid they’d reluctantly say yes and then not want me there.’
She added of her future husband: “But he was so pure and wonderful, and that’s what he is.” She didn’t know him. And it was the beginning of our friendship.
Qualls later called her future spouse, Olsson, one of the “most wonderful” people she had ever met.
He reflected: ‘It’s so crazy that this person who was just my friend, now I think about him all the time and he sends me the best messages, and he supports me and loves me unconditionally in the right way, because I would never abuse that. .’
The actor clarified that ‘unconditional love’ means ‘you treat that person with respect and their best interests are your best interests,’ which was the type of love Olsson shows him.
“Now we’re going to be old together, which is crazy,” DJ mused.

Fans offered congratulatory comments on social media in response to the engagement.
