Sunrise’s Natalie Barr reveals what she really thinks of her new co-host Matt Shirvington, and her brutal advice for others hoping for a career in TV.
Sunrise host Natalie Barr has revealed what she really thinks of her new co-host, Matt Shirvington.
The 55-year-old man said The Sydney Morning Herald on Sunday, she has known Matt for years because “they would see each other at events and always hit it off.”
“He’s the kind of guy that just fits in. He’s a very nice, normal guy with a daddy-like sense of humor,” he said.
Natalie went on to reveal how she deals with public scrutiny, saying she doesn’t feel any added pressure being the more experienced presenter.
I don’t mind a little scrutiny. Some people will like my way of doing things, others won’t. If you can’t cope with that, then I guess you shouldn’t be on TV,” he explained.

Natalie said she has turned off notifications on Twitter and blocks trolls who send her mean messages on Instagram.
“I think when you do public work, it’s an integral part. You can’t expect everyone to write glowing reviews,” she added.
Matt was announced as David Kochie’s replacement on Sunrise last month.
While Matt learns the ropes, Natalie has taken the brunt of the hard-hitting interviews and cemented her status as Australia’s queen of breakfast TV.
