Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac hits back at viewer who accused him of doing very little: ‘I’d like to know what he’s doing for the rest of the day’

Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac has launched a devastating comeback after snapping a viewer’s sled.

The prankster responded to a letter published in Adelaide’s Sunday Mail suggesting that Sam was paid by Channel Seven’s breakfast show to do very little.

The letter signed by Neill of Woodcroft stated that Sam was accepting free meals, lodging and presumably airfare, and he asked how Sam filled his days after doing it again.

Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac launched a scathing comeback on his Instagram on Monday after he ran over a sled from a viewer who asked what the funny man “was doing all day?”

Sam shot back a long and sarcastic reply in an Instagram story.

“First of all, I would like to compliment you on your accurate summary of my role as a Weatherman, which is to tell people the weather. Well seen sir. You got me,” the notoriously quick-witted 40-year-old shared.

“In answer to your question, if I don’t enjoy free lodging, meals, and airfare, I like to spend the rest of the day doing my favorite hobbies…,” Sam said.

Sam went on to enumerate a highly improbable sequence of past times, including stone jumping, Latin dancing, collecting navel fluff, beatboxing and learning folk songs on the flute.

“If there’s anything left, I like to write mean letters to my local papers. And you Nel? What do YOU do the rest of the day? Sincerely, Sam.’

Meanwhile, Sam’s Sunrise colleagues couldn’t resist a dig at the weatherman.

“Neill is very observant. We get you, Neill,” Sunrise host David Koch told viewers on Tuesday.

Co-host Natalie Barr, joined Sam in the playful joke, saying, “Neill belongs to all of us.”

Sam then suggested that David Koch may have written the letter. “Is your pseudonym Neill,” he teased.

The letter, which was published on Sunday, was headed ‘Not a cloud in the sky’.

“I had to smile when Sam Mac from Sunrise said he had a fantastic week,” Neill’s letter began.

“Of course he’d say that after he’d been in the Hunter Valley all week. But what does he actually do? It seems very little to me, except to give the weather temperatures and tell the viewers that it will be rainy or sunny.

Not a bad job: getting paid while enjoying free lodging, meals and, I assume, airfare. I’d like to know what he’s doing for the rest of the day.’
