Sunrise star Sam Mac has announced a shock career move.
The 42-year-old weatherman who appears on the morning television show has revealed he has become a published author.
On Tuesday’s edition of Channel Seven’s The Morning Show, Sam chatted to Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies about his foray into writing children’s books.
The TV presenter wrote a touching picture book entitled ‘Suddenly One’, a dedication to his first child, two-year-old Margot.
“When Margot turned one, you wanted to celebrate that and all those little moments that happen in that first year, so I just jotted down some ideas,” Sam told the hosts.
‘I was on a long flight to Perth… and I thought, “Maybe this could be a poem.” A few days later I refined it and posted it with a video to match the words.’
At the time, the video of Sam’s emotional poem had received more than a million views in one night.
“It really took me by surprise and Penguin got in touch and said, ‘We think this is a universal experience. Everyone gets excited about their little ones and those first milestones. We’re going to make it into a picture book,'” the Sunrise star explained.

Last month, Sam welcomed his second child, a girl, with fiancée Rebecca James.
The presenter took to Instagram to confirm the couple’s joyous baby news, sharing a heartwarming image of her cradling her newborn and revealing her name: Mabel August McMillan.
Sam welcomed his daughter in August after announcing Rebecca’s pregnancy in February.
The TV presenter wrote the touching picture book titled ‘Suddenly One’ as a dedication to his firstborn daughter Margot, aged two.
“It’s a girl. Again,” she wrote in the caption.
‘We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Mabel August McMillan into the world (born last night, 8/14/24). It is my destiny to be surrounded by beautiful women! A stark contrast to my high school years.
‘I’ll share more details soon, but Bec was our warrior once again, Mabel was delightfully plump and relaxed and now we take a collective breather before Hurricane Margot passes to meet her little sister later tonight.’

Sam’s post was filled with well wishes and congratulations from friends, family and fans.
“You all look incredibly fresh. Enjoy this beautiful moment,” wrote Channel Seven colleague Edwina Bartholomew.
“What a brilliant thing! I love the name. Congratulations to everyone xx xxxxx,” said radio host Amanda Keller.
“Woooohoooo,” commented Tim Robards, while model Simone Holtznagel added: “My heart. Congratulations.”
Sam and Rebecca announced they were expecting a baby in February, but kept the sex of their child private.
Excited by the news, he wrote: ‘Baby Mac (the sequel) is coming out August 2024. Starring Margot as the older sister #MacDaddy #Round2.’
