Roving Sunrise reporter Katie Brown was left red-faced on Friday after a very poorly timed act occurred during a live broadcast.

The presenter was broadcasting the morning’s sports headlines live from Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena at around 6am when a delivery arrived.

When the broadcast cut to Katie from a cricket report, she was embarrassed when the coffee she had ordered earlier arrived.

“Talk about perfect timing,” Katie said, taking the mid-air faux pas in stride.

‘You know what it’s like when you’re on set, right, and you really need that caffeine fix?’

The journalist then left the camera to retrieve a bag containing her coffee order.

“Thank you,” he said to the delivery man who remained off camera.

“It was supposed to be at 6:20, I promise it wasn’t going to be in sports, but somehow we made it.”

The camera then panned to show the delivery man walking away, with Katie shouting: “Five stars, thank you.” We even received a greeting.

Back in the studio, Sunrise hosts David Woiwod and Edwina Bartholomew were amused by the on-air mistake and Katie’s reaction.

“You have to tip her, Katie,” David advised and Katie agreed, before adding, “Wait until our next sports break, I’ll be on fire.”

Edwina punctuated the fun moment with: “If you’re in Melbourne this morning, bring Katie Brown another coffee.”

The exchange was shared on Sunrise’s Instagram page, with many fans praising Katie as a “breath of fresh air.”

“You are the best and everything you do naturally expresses the things we love most about this wonderful country,” gushed one viewer.

Katie’s coffee incident comes after she was involved in another awkward moment on air in December.

He was interviewing students during a live crossover at a school in western Sydney about their HSC results when he mistook a teacher for a student.

Katie was moving among a large group of students enjoying a post-HSC celebration when the problem occurred.

He had just finished speaking to a student at St John Paul II Catholic School in Schofields when he touched the shoulder of a woman nearby.

‘Who do we have here?’ Katie asked.

After the teacher identified herself as Mrs Canning, Katie cheekily asked her about her HSC results.

However, the teacher refused to play along and changed focus to highlight her student’s achievements.

‘I’m very proud of them. “They did very well and worked very hard,” he said.

Katie recovered quickly and said to the young teacher, “You are aging very well too, I mistook you for a student.”
