Humiliating moment when Sunrise host Edwina Bartholomew realizes she named her son after one of her ex-boyfriends
Sunrise newscaster Edwina Bartholomew was visibly embarrassed Thursday when a story she covered hit a little too close to home.
The TV presenter, 39, discussed with her co-hosts a recent viral story about an expectant father who wanted to name his daughter after one of his ex-girlfriends.
Edwina looked shocked when she realized live on air that her youngest son Tom happens to share the name of one of her exes.
“I just realized I have an ex-boyfriend named Tom, and my son’s name is Tom. That’s difficult,” she told co-presenter Natalie Barr.
‘No!’ Natalie gasped, shocked that Edwina would do such a thing.

Later in the show, Sunrise host David “Kochie” Koch asked Edwina if her husband Neil Varcoe knew she “had an ex named Tom.”
Edwina explained that it was all a coincidence as their son, who just turned one year old, was in fact named after her husband’s best friend.
It wasn’t until Thursday’s segment that she made the connection with her ex.
“Honestly, when you said it this morning, I thought, ‘Oh my God.’ And even worse, it was the person I dated for Neil!’ she blurted out.
“So what a shock that I didn’t even think about it today.”

“Don’t you regret your final choice?” asked Kochie, to which Edwina replied with a laugh, “It’s a little late to change it!”
“Tom, beautiful Tom, just turned one yesterday, so I have a feeling that ship has sailed.”
