Media mogul Sumner Redstone and his family have agreed to a settlement with Manuela Herzer, the ex-girlfriend he previously accused of stealing $ 75 million from him.
Sources familiar with the case told the Wall Street Journal that Herzer has agreed to pay back $ 3.25 million of the tens of millions of dollars to gifts that the 95-year-old Redstone has given her over the years.
The settlement comes after more than three years of trial that began in the fall of 2015, when Redstone kicked Herzer from his home in Beverly Hill and wrote her out of his will.
Herzer went on, claiming that the mental abilities of Redstone had shrunk, and that the altered trust would expire.
Redstone, the largest owner of National Amusements Inc, holding nearly 80 percent of the votes in CBS and Viacom, responded by challenging Mr. Herzer in an effort to return $ 75 million in gifts he'd given her.
A trial was scheduled to begin next week on January 14.

Redstone resigned as executive chairman of the two companies he controls, CBS and Viacom Inc. At the beginning of 2016 Herzer was recently given a doctor appointed by the court to investigate him.
Herzer and another ex-partner, Sydney Holland, claim that Redstone's daughter, Shari, has manipulated her father to take over her media empire. Shari denies those allegations.
