Suki Waterhouse has revealed the behind-the-scenes drama at Taylor Swift’s Wembley show that nearly derailed her performance.
The new mum, 32, opened for the superstar at one of his London concerts this month, but unbeknownst to the 90,000-strong crowd, chaos was breaking out backstage due to a wardrobe malfunction.
Talking with The times Speaking about the experience, Suki revealed that she wanted to have an outfit with ‘huge sleeves’ and hired French fashion house Chloé to make her a dress.
However, the dress was not collected before the show and on the day Suki was due to perform, Chloé was closed so drastic measures were taken.
Suki recalled: “One of my bosses gave a doorman £500 to come in and take the dress. I think there were literally 140 phone calls.”

Fortunately, the dress arrived in Suki’s hands less than two hours before her performance, and her manager kept her in the dark until then. “because I was already stressed.”
Suki also revealed that she had been asked to open a concert for her friend last year, sharing: ‘Taylor mentioned that at a dinner a year ago. I didn’t know if it was real.
“But that’s the thing about her: I should have known, she always has plans. When she says something, she does it.”
The look-alike stars have been close friends since 2016, when they were photographed in matching outfits, and have even gone on double dates with Suki’s fiancé Robert Pattinson and Taylor’s then-boyfriend Joe Alwyn.
After the show, Suki shared on Instagram: “Last time I was at Wembley, I was dancing like crazy on the Reputation tour! I never thought the next time I’d be here I’d be supporting my favourite artist with my friends and family in the audience.”
‘Thank you @taylorswift for this once in a lifetime opportunity to perform in my beloved London and for the unwavering support on my own journey as an artist. You are the biggest and brightest star in the world, I love you so much.
“My nervous system will never be the same after last night. Someone tell this girl she just opened the final slide for ERAS BABY!”
Opening for Taylor has prepared Suki for her own shows, and she is set to embark on a 27-date North American tour next month.
Opening for Taylor has prepared Suki for her own shows, and she is set to embark on a 27-date North American tour next month, bringing her five-month-old daughter with her.
However, this tour will be different from others, as she will travel with her five-month-old daughter whom she shares with Robert, whose name has not been revealed.
She reflected: ‘I’m really excited about (taking her on the tour bus). I know it sounds crazy, but I really am. I didn’t have a baby to be like, ‘Oh, I’ll leave her at home for five weeks.’ That’s not even an option. I’m absolutely obsessed with being with my baby, so I would never (leave her).’
She’s under no illusions that it could be a struggle, though, so Robert will pitch in if necessary.
She explained: “If things get crazy and I feel like the baby needs a break, then her dad will come pick her up and she’ll go hang out with him on set. You just have to make it work.”
