Police say footage from the night of the murder shows the same gunman as Pandey and holding several items, including his black wallet. The man allegedly repeatedly told Pandey to open the door to his apartment.
Pandey reportedly said, “What are you going to do?” before the man cocked the slide of his firearm, pushed her inside and closed the door behind them.
Staff at the apartment complex made the gruesome discovery after receiving a call from an anonymous man.
Police believe Pandey knew her attacker because they found no signs of forced entry or a robbery gone wrong.
They also believe that whoever killed her might have had her cellphone, which has not been found. Pandey’s friends told police that her phone had no location record after Saturday.
Pandey was taking classes at Houston Community College and working at a local phone store.
