Sudan: Freedom and Change announces the completion of the final draft of the political agreement

Date:

Yasser Arman, spokesman for the Forces for Freedom and Change – the Central Council, announced, on Saturday, the completion of the final draft of the political agreement between civilians and the military in Sudan, while Al-Arabiya sources reported that a meeting is scheduled to be held today, Sunday, at the presidential palace to hand over the final draft of the political agreement.

Arman said on his Twitter account that this will open the way for the formation of the civilian government, indicating that the draft agreement will be handed over to the parties today, Sunday.

He stressed that regional and global support is “critical,” adding that the political process in Sudan has reached a point of “no return.”

Al-Burhan: Civil government, but without “extortion”

And the spokesman for the political process in Sudan, Khaled Omar Youssef, announced last Sunday that the signing of the final political agreement will be on April 1, while the head of the Transitional Sovereignty Council in Sudan, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, confirmed that the military establishment will not back down from the goal of reaching a civilian government, but without “blackmail”.

The Sudanese military and civilian parties agreed two weeks ago to call for the convening of a political mechanism that begins its work urgently to draft a final political agreement and reach this agreement in a short time. The military component in Sudan signed the framework agreement on the fifth of last December with civil forces led by Freedom and Change and other political and professional forces, to start a transitional period that will last for two years and conclude with elections.

The last phase of the political process in Sudan began last January, when Al-Burhan affirmed the commitment of the military institution to leave political life and work with political and civilian partners.
