After days of violent clashes, Khartoum finally woke up to a calm morning, after the truce took effect on Monday, following the weekend talks that took place in Jeddah, between the army led by Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the Rapid Support Forces led by Lieutenant General Muhammad Hamdan Dagalo.
The negotiations were held after US-Saudi mediation, as a result of which the two parties met in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
These are the first negotiations of its kind since the conflict that began on April 15, and led to the killing and wounding of hundreds, including dozens of children.
The diplomatic initiative proposed by Saudi Arabia and the United States aims to stop the fighting in the war-torn country and has displaced tens of thousands of citizens to neighboring countries in a wave of refugees the likes of which the country has never seen.
