Subaru is jumping on the Tesla charging port bandwagon. He The automaker has announced which will adopt the North American Charging Standard (NACS) for “certain” electric vehicles starting in 2025.
Adoption of the NACS charging port has increased significantly after Tesla open-sourced the NACS design last year. Subaru joins a long list of other automakers adding support to the port, including Toyota, Ford, GM, Rivian, Volvo, Polestar, Nissan, Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar Land Rover, Fisker, Hyundai and BMW. EV charging still has a lot of room for improvement here in the US, and it’s unclear if adopting NACS will improve things.
Subaru isn’t the last big name to adopt the standard, either. We’re still waiting for Volkswagen and Stellantis to follow suit.
