At the end of January, FC Schalke 04 loaned the previously completely flopped summer signing Jordan Larsson to Denmark – including a purchase option. The striker doesn’t want to go back to Gelsenkirchen anyway.
Jordan Larsson made twelve appearances for FC Schalke, but the Swede left no trace. The 25-year-old didn’t score a single point.
“In my opinion, his head is blocked. He can’t fight duels so rigorously,” S04 coach Thomas Reis gave the attacker an alarming testimony shortly before his transfer.
Both sides therefore decided to go their separate ways for the time being. Larsson was hired by FC Copenhagen in Denmark until the end of the season, and a purchase option of EUR 2.2 million was also agreed.
In an interview, the left footer has now revealed that he would like to stay at his current loan club beyond the summer.
“The club is known to have an option to buy me, so it’s up to them. But for my part I’m very happy here and would like to stay here,” Larsson told the tabloid Ekstra Bladet. He “definitely” wants to play longer for FCK.
Jordan Larsson at FC Schalke 04 probably without a future
However, it is questionable whether Copenhagen is willing to shell out more than two million euros for the offensive man. In eight appearances, Larsson only scored twice in all competitions.
The working paper of the seven-time national player at FC Schalke is valid until 2025. However, it is unlikely that he has a future with the Bundesliga club.
Five games before the end, the Royal Blues are still in acute relegation trouble. Should the bitter transition to league two become a reality, Larsson’s salary would be difficult for the clammy club to bear. But even in the event of relegation, S04 would certainly like to remove the storm flop from the payroll.
