Football commentator Paul Kent has been hospitalized with up to five broken ribs and a suspected collapsed lung after his alleged street fight on Saturday night, his lawyer said on Tuesday.

Footage that went viral on social media on Sunday morning showed Kent and another man arguing outside the Three Weeds hotel in the inner Sydney suburb of Rozelle before the altercation allegedly turned physical.

Kent has been suspended from his duties at Fox Sports and the Daily Telegraph while his employers investigate the incident.

A 35-year-old man turned up at Balmain police station at around 6.45pm on Sunday before being taken to Newtown police station, in the city’s inner west, and charged with disorder after officers They launched an investigation when they found out about the video.

Now Kent’s attorney, George Elias, has said his client is receiving treatment in hospital to see if he suffered a collapsed lung in addition to four or five broken ribs in the alleged altercation.

“He has been in the hospital since after the incident,” Elías told the Sydney Morning Herald.

“I’m only concerned about his health and well-being.”

In the clip, Kent can be heard calling the other man a “doghead” before they allegedly get into a physical confrontation that extends across the street from the location.

Footage shows the commentator allegedly being thrown into a tree and landing head-first in the gutter before rising from the ground.

Other men could be seen trying to intervene in the alleged confrontation.

The man accused of the incident has also revealed a photograph of an injury he suffered to the back of his head during the confrontation, for which he is seeking medical attention.
