- Video posted to TikTok shows practical way to get rid of permanent marker stains
Permanent markers are great…if you want to easily label something just once.
They can, however, prove to be a curse when you’re mistakenly stuck with ink that you can’t move.
Luckily, being frustrated by using a Sharpie incorrectly might be a worry you no longer need to endure thanks to this nifty hack.
A video posted by TikTok user @fosddddooo1 showed a seemingly ingenious way to get rid of the notoriously stubborn marker stain.
Instead of trying to erase all writing with window cleaner, the user successfully removes all traces of the marker after using a whiteboard eraser pen to draw on the stain, before wiping this clean.

The clip, which has been viewed more than 1.4 million times on the social video platform, has received mixed reactions – with some users even suggesting their own ways to get rid of stubborn Sharpie stains.
One user commented: “Teachers have known this for years. »
A second wrote: “rubbing alcohol works best.”
A third posted: “Hand sanitizer works too!!! »
Another pointed out that WD40 would also work to remove permanent marker stains from a surface, while another TikTok user said deodorant would also work, due to the ethyl alcohol some sprays contain.
If in some situations you don’t have any of these items on hand, another comment points out: “Mark on it again with the same marker, then wipe it off.” It might take a few tries, but it will work.
Other suggestions that viewers think might work include spray-based sunscreen, hairspray, nail polish remover and even lemon juice.
Essentially, if you have something that is very acidic or contains some form of alcohol, you should be able to remove all traces of previous scribbles.
Joking about the distinctly strong smell of permanent markers, another quipped: “Why do I smell this video lol.”
