ALISON BOSHOFF: Strictly speaking Tony Adams won’t face repercussions after telling Shirley Ballas to ‘go home’ when he disagreed with her score
The Clauditorium balcony on Strictly Come Dancing is a whirlpool of chaos and bad behavior – never more so than last Saturday, when the judges scored Tony Adams’ insanely entertaining cha-cha performed on the theme of the Tribune.
As Shirley Ballas held up her four paddles, Tony was seen on camera roaring, “Shirley! Go home!!’
You might think they’re bad manners to interfere with the judging process, but my BBC source says they’re delighted with the former footballer’s outburst.
All good: Strictly’s Tony Adams won’t face repercussions after telling Shirley Ballas to ‘go home’ when he disagreed with her score
Tony’s multiple missteps left him in bottom position with 19.
Dancing with his partner Katya Jones to the theme of the long-standing sports program, Tribune, Tony joked that they would get a “grand stand ovation.”
His dreams were thwarted, however, when Craig Revel Horwood exclaimed, “It actually reminded me of a scene from Death Becomes Her where Meryl Streep falls down the stairs and comes back with her head upside down, honey, I’ve never seen anything like it!”
Tony’s routine also left head judge Shirley Ballas speechless with his missteps when she added: ‘You’re a ray of sunshine, but below the knee it’s just raining’ – they scored a total of 19, with three points from Craig.
Despite the low rating, Tony won over the crowd with his routine and earned enough support not to participate in the dreaded dance-off.
It was Jayde Adams, 37, who was taken off the show after going up against CBBC star Molly Rainford, 21.
Meanwhile, Tony was questioned about the eruption on Thursday’s It Takes Two and defended his actions.
He explained: ;When they started making comments, I got a little reactive. It’s not disrespect to them, it’s just my way of “going away”…
“I’m a beginner and sometimes I don’t do the right moves and stuff.”
