Strictly’s Nick Knowles, 62, sparks fears he could quit the show when he reveals he has his arm in a sling after suffering a nasty injury.

Nick Knowles has sparked fears he could pull out of Strictly Come Dancing 2024, after suffering a nasty arm injury which left him in a sling.

The DIY SOS star, 62, made her debut on the BBC show on Monday alongside professional partner Luba Mushtuk.

However, as he prepared to resume training for his second dance, Nick shared with his Instagram followers that he had injured his arm and shoulder while changing his car’s tire, after breaking down on the side of the road.

In a video shared on Monday, Nick shared that he was heading to the Harley Street Clinic to undergo a scan and hoped to update fans on the status of his injury ahead of his appearance on It Takes Two that night.

But he promised that “nothing would stop him from dancing” ahead of the second live show this weekend.

Nick shared a video of his arm wrapped in a sling and said: “Thought I’d give a little update. I’ve got a sling on and that’s because my car broke down on the side of the highway.

‘My little one was in the car, so I wanted to change the tire as quickly as I could to make sure we were safe.

‘And in the process of rushing to get the wheel off, as quickly as I could because there was a big wheel on my big car, I managed to do a little damage to my shoulder and arm.

“I’m not quite sure how or what, but it’s been quite painful. I’m feeling a bit better this morning though, so I’m off to London, to Harley St, for an ultrasound and some top medical advice, but then I’m off to train so I can learn the steps for my next dance.

“I’ll see you on It Takes Two a little later today, where I hope to have more information and be able to update you, but I’ll keep you posted throughout the day anyway. It’s not ideal, but I’m confident that nothing will stop me from dancing this weekend.”

During their first appearance on Strictly, Nick and Luba scored 18 points for their Jive and dance to We Built This City by Starship.

Nick stayed true to his roots during his Jive to We Built This City by sporting a bright orange reflective vest, before finishing it off with a disco ball-shaped construction helmet.

“You’re as happy as I am that everything turned out the way it did, aren’t you?” Anton said to Nick after the dance was over.

However, Craig was booed when he called his performance “clumsy, stiff and flat-footed.”

For his debut performance, Nick received a three from Craig and fives from Motsi, Shirley and Anton.

Nick was left red-faced as the cast sang Happy Birthday to him and presented him with a cake, before professional dancer Carlos smashed the cake into his face.

The DIY SOS star shared her concerns about performing live, but insisted she hopes to do better than people expect.

“It’s easy,” Luba replied as she reassured her partner. Nick said, “Well, then I’ll be very happy.”

Strictly has also reportedly suffered another blow after its first live episode of the latest series saw its ratings plummet to their lowest level in the show’s 20-year history.

Following last week’s pre-recorded launch, The sun reported that Saturday’s episode had a peak of 6.7 million viewers, up from 7.3 million for the same episode last year and 10.2 million in 2020.

The show has been embroiled in controversy over how professional dancers teach celebrities, with multiple allegations emerging of harassment and abusive behavior.

The fifteen celebrities and their professional partners took to the dance floor for the first live show since last weekend’s launch, where the couples were revealed for the first time.

A source told the publication that bosses were concerned after already being ‘uneasy’ after the pre-recorded show lost almost a million viewers compared to the previous year.

Saying: ‘The fact that the first live show also suffered a slump will be a cause for concern for them, especially if the slump continues into next week, which is the first elimination show.

‘They now face an anxious wait to see whether the drop in overnight viewers is offset by a rise in fans watching Strictly on iPlayer, but those figures take days and weeks to compile.

‘These live figures are really important for the BBC because Strictly is still seen as one of the few programmes that offer the shared television experience where people come together to watch a programme at a set time.’

The Strictly scandal broke in January when actress Amanda Abbington accused fellow Strictly contestant Giovanni Pernice of abuse after she unexpectedly quit the show just five weeks later.

Sherlock actress Amanda, 50, has made a series of accusations about Giovanni’s teaching methods and has She described his behaviour as “unnecessary, abusive, cruel and mean-spirited.” She strongly denies all the accusations.

Then in July it emerged that Graziano Di Prima had been sacked from Strictly for “kicking” fellow Love Island star Zara McDermott.
