Strictly Come Dancing stars will now MISS in show finale if they catch Covid – as bosses say there will be NO bye week for positive tests
Strictly speaking, stars will now have to miss the final if they catch Covid.
The couples were told before the quarter-finals on Saturday that they would not get a ‘bye week’ to enter the final weeks.
A ‘bye week’ means that participants get a week off if they are sick or injured, which Tom Fletcher, Judi Love and Ugo Monye took advantage of this year.
Bye! Strictly speaking, stars will now have to miss the final if they catch Covid. The couples were told on Saturday prior to the show that they are no longer allowed to have a ‘bye week’ from now on
The cutthroat rule comes as viewers’ fears are mounting that the show will be canceled due to the new variant.
TV Insiders Told The sun that the celebrities missed parties with show business friends.
They said, ‘Everyone used to practice social distancing. Now they are extra careful.’
Saturday’s show saw two couples make blunders on their elevators during their routines.
Oh no: The killer rule comes as viewers’ fears are mounting that the show will be canceled due to the new variant.
AJ Odudu and Kai Widdrington fiddle with the end lift of their routine, while John Whaite nearly dropped Johannes Rabede.
John and Johanne got off to a good start performing an energetic routine for Sister Sledge’s We Are Family, but things got a little out of hand when pro dancer Johannes offered John his wrong hand as they started the elevator.
As a result, John had to perform an awkward lift before Johannes seemed to slip out of his grasp and land heavily on the ground.
Despite his usual sour comments, Craig Revel Horwood admitted that he “loves it when things go wrong!”

Yaks! Strictly’s quarterfinal on Saturday was quite the drama as two couples made huge mistakes at the end of their dances in what turned out to be a show full of gaffes.
The routine seemed to run smoothly, with an abundance of flips and tricks everywhere.
AJ, meanwhile, also had a nightmare during the quarterfinals when his grand lift to Gloria Estefan’s Rhythm Is Gonna Get You/Get On Your Feet at the end of her salsa didn’t go according to plan.
The host and professional partner Kai really got in the mood as the routine neared its end, but the pair couldn’t pull things together with the elevator, with AJ’s leg landing uncomfortably over Kai’s shoulder as he tried to lift her.
My bad: As they made their way to the judges for their comment, Johannes shook his head as he noted, “I’m so sorry!”
He admitted defeat, awkwardly put her down and the duo tried to shake it off, before AJ struck a fantastic pose at the end to try and save things.
After the dance, an upset AJ struggled to fight back tears as she apologized to her fans for disappointing, while Kai put the blame on herself, saying, “I think I missed a hand. I take the blame for that.’
AJ and Kai earned 30 points for the dance and finished at the bottom of the standings.
